Hall Road Rangers v Victoria Dock under 9s 17/10/10

In the Sunday morning sunshine two teams played a fantastic game of football with neither side giving an inch to the opposition and both defences play some great football. It was Victoria Dock that broke the dead lock by scoring first with a break that saw them with 2 on 1 with the goalie. It was late on in the second half that Man of the Match Alex McCoid who did a sterling job as captain scored from a goal mouth scramble following a corner that finished the match even at 1-1

The second game started better for Hall Road with Harry Peacock scoring early in the first half and Luke Walker (reminiscent of Ryan Gigg’s goal again Arsenal in the F.A. cup) picked up the ball on the half way line ran down the wing beating 3 players before cutting inside taking it round the defender and slotting into the back of the net for 2-0. After half time Victoria Dock came out and with some slick passing and fast attacking play very quickly scoring 2 goals to put the game level. There were some heart stopping moments for both sides and a couple of good saves by both keepers but it was the captain who stepped to the front beat a very good defence and scored in bottom right hand corner ending the game 3-2 to Hall Road

Costello Eagles v Hall Road Rangers 26/9/10

It was a miserable morning and Hall Road played well in the first game with some slick passing in difficult conditions. Tom Baxter came up with the first goal with a lovely shot from the edge of the area. Alex McCoid scored the second with a toe poke on the line. Harry Peacock made it 3-0 with a cracker from outside the box. Alex turned provider later with a nice pass to Luke Walker who placed it wide of the keeper to finish the first game 4-0.

In the second game Hall road came out flying and after several missed attempts on goal a perfect through ball from Ozzer Allenby so Luke Walker one on one with the keeper and Luke put it away cleanly to put Hall Road 1-0 in front. Alex McCoid who played a great captains role put a great cross into the box that saw Tom Baxter score with a cheeky back heel. Some great keeping throughout the game from both keepers saw Jack Robinson get Man of the Match.

Costello was unlucky to score a own goal defending an Alex McCoid cross then Alex scored with a cracking free kick into the top corner. With the game finishing 4-1 Hall Road are the only side to have a 100% record.

home game v Cottingham Rangers 19/09/10

First game of the season and the weather was atrocious but commeth the hour commeth the boys in blue and white. Some excellent defending from Leo backed up with a man of the match display by Bradley and a great midfield gave us the momentum needed to score 2 unanswered goals in the first game winning 2-0
Although not scoring Cottingham never stopped working and Hall Road had to work hard for thier 1st win. The both goals came in the first half with Alex comming up trumps with a goal mouth scramble to poke one home, the second came from a Harry hit from the edge of the the keeper did not see comming.
The second game started at a faster pace and the lads seem to settle quicker with most of them picking thier work rate up and with some good work down the right flank ending in a corner and Alex supperb clip found the bottom corner. Then Brad found himself in the area with the ball at his feet which he promptly dispatch into the back of the net. brad then took his shirt did a lap of hohour and the poor lad got a booking from his dad who was reffing at the time. Luke came on in the second half and stuck one in with his first touch, and Jack backed the team up with on of his own so we finished 4-0 well done everyone.

Managers comment

"anyway the only issue I have is one or two players need to buck up start listening and adapting to the training we are providing. If you turn up to training or a game without the spirit the team needs, you will not play"

First game 1-1 second lost 4-2
Great game. Mike asked them to up their workrate and thats just what they did we played them off the park the only difference was they took thier chances better then us (well they are a year older and at this age that makes a difference) we had a lot more chances then they did, we passed better then they and we defended brilliantly well done every onegreat goal from Alex almost from the half way line plus goals from Jack and Brad.
Last thing, overheard Mike at half time telling them how pleased he was now that doesn't happen often!!
Man of the match was Leo(pictured above) for outstanding work at the back
